Newman Christmas Kickoff 2022

Join GOAL, Newman Regional Library, Newman Christian Church and the entire Newman community for a weekend of festive fun kicking off the Christmas season in style!

Starting at 1pm on Saturday, December 10, Newman Regional Library will be hosting a crafting event for kids of all ages to decorate little Christmas trees to keep or donate to residents at Newman Rehabilitation and Health Care Services.

At 3pm, the Grinch will be hosting dinner at Corn Crib in downtown Newman. Pizza will be served to enjoy during story time with the Grinch! Seating is limited, call the Corn Crib at 217-837-2788 for reservations. If you miss the meal, you can still come at 4-4:30pm to get photos with the Grinch. Free will donations accepted.

As the sun sets Newman community members will light up the night with decorated golf carts and other vehicles for a parade bringing Santa to town! The procession will move through town, around the square and out to the Newman Rehabilitation and Health Care Center with good cheer and twinkling lights.

On Sunday afternoon at 1pm, Newman Christian Church will be hosting the jolly old elf, himself for photos and gift giving while cookies are served.

Afterwards Newman community members and churchgoers of every denomination will gather together for a ride through town, rejoicing in the season with a "joyful noise" as they sing carols at homes across town.

GOAL and all of the cooperating Newman organizations are hoping this will be the most joyous Christmas season ever! Join us in helping make that wish come true!
